Teaching As a biologist, poet and educator, my approach to teaching is to combine science and art, right and left brain approaches to learning. It is more fun and effective this way. I am available for co-creating classes and experiences that meet the needs of you and your group. I have worked for many years within various educational contexts including the public schools K-12 and universities, and for organizations such as the Greater Yellowstone Coalition and the National Park Service. I've led dozens of workshops with teachers and graduate students from around the world. I have been fortunate to work with the Teton Science Schools, one of the first and best environmental education centers in the world, since I was an intern in 1976. I have also studied disciplines such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Brain Gym, and I like to include these body-based tools as part of my teaching as I find they enhance learning.
This is a way to experience nature in a more intimate way. I can be hired as a private guide or teacher for you, your group or organization. As both a biologist and poet, I enjoy helping to connect your inner creativity with the outer natural world through meditative and writing experiences. We all know, time in nature is renewing, restoring, rejuvenating. Allow me to join your adventure to make it a creative adventure by connecting to our inner nature at a deeper level as we move through the beauty of outer nature. Through walking, appreciating the beauty, and a series of exercises to quiet our busy minds, we will open and expand our six senses. Experience the emergence of your unique inner wisdom, gain insight, and discover answers to questions that naturally arise as you slow down, saunter, and still your mind.
Through conversations and exercises, I can help you write that book or poem you’ve longed to write. I can also assist with the conceptual editing of your work in progress, helping you to uncover missing pieces or deeper links to your own creative muse.
